Live Blog – The Grand Final!

The Live Blog and Chat is running now…

As always tap F5 to refresh as we go along and click to leave your views as each act performs. The skaters have been perfecting everything from flips to Flambos, will they be drastic or fantastic? It’s Grand Final time!

Can you take it?
Are you trembling with excitement at the thought of Hayley’s flying routine? …Or maybe it’s the possibility of seeing Kieron’s Bolero that’s floating your boat? Can Gary cut the others down to size with nothing but his blades?

Who do you want to win the Dancing On Ice Grand Final?

SHOW STARTS:

Can Jayne and Chris get any better? Did you see that Bolero performance? They’ve reached a new peak if you ask me, I mean using those ribbons to fly. How inventive and original, not to mention beautiful… Stunning! Chris is ever the ‘man’ throughout his performance and Jayne the elegant innocent princess in violet, just waiting to be to be plucked – Oooh, I went all romantic for a moment then, what’s up with me? Well, forbidden love and all that. You have to embrace the Bolero, it gets better and better each year… Magical every time.

Jayne had no harness or safety net and she was so high!

For tonight’s flying routines, Jayne and Chris have decided to add to required element. The skaters must perform a somersault through their wires or a roatating spin, starting on the ice and then continuing as they take off – it’s tricky stuff but I’d love to have a go. Would you?

Head judge Robin Cousins knows that in recent weeks it’s all been about fan votes and skating skills but the skaters have to lay everything on the line tonight and go for it, he wants to see them enjoying themselves. "They have to convince the people at home to pick up the phone!"

So who’s first?

I always feel sorry for the boys when it comes to the flying, it’s hard to ‘be the lead’ when you’re flouncing about on wires and it’s far more painful, they never look as elegant as the ladies – Hayley has a head start.

Kieron is first and he performs with Brianne to a romantic version of Jai Ho, I love a good slowy...

There’s a mid-air side run, three somersaults and a beautiful air walk. He pulled it off and I’m surprised just how graceful he looked considering he had so muh trouble dancing in earlier weeks.

24 points

Robin: "That was a very strong confident performance not gangly like previous weeks."

Emma: "You should be so proud of yourself, your posture was fantastic and you’re like a different person."

Jason describes Kieron’s transitions back onto the ice as "clunky" but agrees that his presentation has improved. Kieron’s pleased as punch!

Tamaddon Time!

Well, what can I say? Apart from Dan catching the wire and a slight pause that was sensational!

There’s a beautiful spinning layout, a float, somersaults and the new tandem sky dive. Dan lays across Hayley and they both glide through the air together. Hayley promised something new and said they were going to go for it – They didn’t disappoint did they?

Three sixes! 29 points!

Arrr… Baby Bunton is blubbing. "I’m in tears and I’m so emotional. I’m like this because I know how hard you’ve worked and how much you love this. It’s like you’re doing it with your best friend, your transitions were beautiful."

Nicky Slater actually thanks Hayley for taking part in this years show as she’s worked so hard and put so much into it.

Did you love it that much?
I spotted a few errors and well done to the judges who awarded 5.5’s. I’d have done the same. Just because it makes you cry doesn’t make it a six.

Pink, passionate, pretty and professional but not perfect.

Poor Gary, he’s had such a hard week and has struggled getting to grips with the wires – He’s smashed head first into the ice so many times trying the somersaults… Fingers crossed…

He and Maria perform to Starman and although some of the tricks are good, there’s a lot of floating about posing like Superman.

There’s a travelling spin, an air hang (which Maria nearly slips from) and the required somersaults.

24.5 points

Karen: "We both looked at each other today and said, ‘where did that come from?’ It was like all of a sudden you got it. There was a slight deduction from me as one of the transitions wasn’t quite there – but that was great."

Jason tried to say something nice…
"I wasn’t expecting you to be quite as good as you were, there was some grace there but there wasn’t the variation for me." Am I losing it? I’m agreeing with Jason again! He’s right, the Superman pose popped up over and over to fill the gaps.

Sorry, was chatting in the comments section…

I was just saying that I’d like to see Kieron and Hayley perform Bolero. I think Kieron wants it more and I’ve loved watching himweek after week. He’s grown from boy to man before our eyes and is so humble – I think he’s a more passionate perfromer than Gary too!

It’s time for the skaters to perform their favourite routine of the series.

Kieron and Brianne have chosen Ever Fallen In Love With Someone (You Shouldn’t Have Fallen In Love With) and the crowd go wild. The pair throw everything at it and it’s both edgy and raw – in a good way of course.

There’s a teapot flip, fantastic dance sequences included the swim start, crossovers, mohawks, lunges and so much more.

24.5 points

Bless him, "I’m bleeding in my mouth again. I got excited during a lift and bit my tongue but it’s well worth it. I loved every minute of it!"

Nicky commends the fact that he goes for it but pulls him up for losing concentration here and there. "Sometimes it looks a little raggedy as you go for it in a raggedy fashion." That works for me for that kind of routine Nicky, it’s rock stylee!

Emma agrees but she can’t fault his enthusiasm or the fact that he’s improved so much.

I knew Hayley would choose her Slumdog routine, did you?

Click here to leave your views…

Can you say top marks?
I think it’s looking that way…
No slips…

I love it when Hayley gives it her all, you can see the poor girl’s heart beating in her chest.

There’s a floating genie, toe steps, spin and that amazing overhead waltzer split – I think it was better than last time! Is that possible?

30 points and a perfect score!
It’s well deserved, I didn’t spot one blip did you? I think someone will be dancing Bolero tonight…

Robin is obviously very proud of Hayley, "you could have just repeated your previous performance but you didn’t. You didn’t deliver what you did a few weeks ago you delivered something better. It was tighter!"

Karen is teary, "You promised that you would make us proud and you kept that promise…"

Can Gary claw his way back after a disappointing flight? There’s an angel lift, shoulder stag lift and mirror step sequence… I’m not convinced – sorry.

Gary smiles but looks a little defeated, "It’s a lovely piece of music, I love that song and we enjoyed it… and there’s no pleasing him over there (Jason) so I’ve given up now!"

Jason Gardiner is not happy with the jibe and hacks back. "You are easy to watch and you skate well but you have no performance at all."

Ahem! Olympic medalist Robin Cousins disagrees with Jason and concentrates on Gary’s skating ability. "I have told you Gary, you have been one of if not ‘the’ best technician we have on the show, you but you cannot compete with Hayley when it comes to overall performance!"

So that’s all of the performances for now…
Who would you send packing?
I think it will be Kieron and Hayley dancing Bolero. Get voting, the show continues and you’ve not got long…

Click here to leave your views…

Right! While the celebrity ‘look how hard they’ve worked’ montages run, I’ll give you my two penneths… Yes, this is a popularity contest and yes, it should also be about skating skills but is really a one horse race? If the skater who has the best ‘skills’ always wins then Chris Fountain would have won and not Suzanne Shaw – he was a much better skater but Suzy had the likeability factor. With that in mind who will make it through between Gary and Kieron? Which way will the public go? I mean if it’s about technique then it’s Gary but Kieron has captured the public’s hearts…

What a shock! I thought it would be Kieron but he’s out! Gary Lucy has made it through to the final two alongside Hayley. Kieron looks gutted, it’s heartbreaking to put them in their Bolero outfits before they find out if they can dance – Naughty ITV! (I love it really.)

Kieron holds it together…
"I’ve had the best experience of my life and working with Jayne and Chris and everyone backstage… Brianne is now a friend for life and I just hope I have done everyone at Hollyoaks proud and all of my family and friends." Kieron you are a gent and a star, you should be very proud and so should your parents – you are a credit to them.

So Gary and Hayley are through to dance Bolero and the slate is wiped clean. Voting opens again after the break, who will take the trophy? (Can you say Tammers? I think you’re right!)

Am I being cynical and horribly suspicious? I’m just wondering how Dan and Hayley were put together for the show. They are childhood friends after all, was it random? Hmmm…

Anyway, back to the show. All the celebs return to skate once more and I can’t help but giggle at Bobby Davro, he is hilariously kack isn’t he?

Ooh, I forgot how yummy Jeremy Sheffield was and here’s Heather – she’s going for it!

Sinitta nearly falls and Mikey Graham receives an ovation from the audience (I’m not surprised, I loved him – top bloke).

(Phwoar!) Danny Young doing his boxing routine in next to nothing, I’m drooling and Jason Gardiner is too!

Danniella Westbrook returns and now I can see the difference… I was gutted when she left but tonight’s performance highlighted the gap between Hayley and Danni – it’s all about the detail. Watch it back and look at the toes and hands, even the facial expression. Hayley points every toe and acts every move with face and hands, tonight I see that Danni does not… It’s funny how these things come to light when you have chance to compare.

I don’t want to make this sound like it’s over, but I can’t wait for Hayley and Dan’s Bolero…

Click here to leave your views…

The only rules Jayne and Chris set for Bolero are that the skaters must start on their knees and end in the famous ‘laid out’ position – come on, you know the one… Have a go! LOL!

Hayley and Dan are first and (wow) it’s nothing short of spellbinding. It’s captivating, passionate and their eyes never leave each other. There’s a spinning lay out lift, Torvill and Dean toe-pick steps, crossovers and… the list goes on and on. They have to be commended for incorporating the lift that caused ‘that’ fall weeks ago too. As the pair slide their routine to an end the drama of the piece is obvious and the spotlight captures Hayley’s beaming smile and beating heart… They’re both overjoyed to have done it.

Hayley says she has been waiting to dance Bolero since she was a little girl. I have to say, Chris Dean looks quite overwhelmed by the performance.

There are no scores as it’s down to the public vote…

Robin Cousins loved it, "You never leave the zone but you never forget about the partnership. Throughout the series it has always been about your partnership…"

Gary and Maria give everything they have and I have to say, he’s raises the bar and obviously wants to give Hayley a run for her money… Can he?

There are waltz lifts, a drag lay-out combination, a counterbalance, roll-up into crucifix and much more… I’m still not sure if there’s enough content to swing it, Hayley and Dan just have that ‘pop’.

Click here to leave your views…

Robin Cousins commends Gary on his technique (again!) and is glad he’s challenging himself.. Unfortunately he adds "it could have been a little more fluid" and I can’t help thinking that’s a hint to the public. He had nothing bad to say about Hayley’s performance.

What do you think?

Click here to leave your views…

So who wins…

THE RESULT:

I always hate this part, the runner-up barely gets a second to speak before they’re shunted off and then (thanks to time restrictions) the winner is handed the trophy and just about blurts out a ‘ta’ before the credits!

The winner of Dancing On Ice 2010 is…

HAYLEY TAMADDON!

You’re blind if you didn’t see that coming! Hayley and Dan can’t stop hugging, they’re so happy it’s well deserved – that Slumdog routine sealed the deal – Superb!

Gary Lucy is humble in defeat, "She was fantastic from the start, sixes across the board and it was well deserved. I’ve loved skating with Maria and every minute of it!"

Blimey, Phil Schofield hands over the trophy but since when do we not hear from the winner? She didn’t even get to speak!

What do you think of that?

Click here to leave your views…

Did you miss that split second? Here they are:

As the credits roll, I can see Hayley thanking everyone and she’s says she "can’t believe it". Should I really have to lip read to hear from the winning skater?

Ah well… It was a cracking series and it’s been fun.
I hope you have enjoyed the blogs and will join me for Britain’s Got Talent real soon!

See you then x

Dancing On Ice Favourite Falters!

Could there be a shock result on Sunday’s Dancing On Ice Final?

There was I complaining about Danniella’s ousting and ranting about it being a one horse race, when what should happen but the favourite starts to flounder!

This week the finalists must perform their favourite performance so far and then a flying routine. Unfortunately Tipped-for-the-top Tamaddon is struggling with the latter. Sadly the time in the air is proving too much and she’s battling motion sickness and shocking bruises from the harness.

The ex-Emmerdale star is odds-on favourite to win but could injury clip her wings before she gets chance to fly? The routine Hayley and Dan have prepared is an absolute showstopper but I’m just hoping we get chance to see it. I wouldn’t mind if she was just a little green around the gills, but she’s taking motion sickness tablets and ginger to help her cope and when she completed her first spin, she was visibly green! She’s even admitted wretching rinkside… nice!

Poor Hayley… Maybe not so much a one horse race now eh boys? Get rehearsing!

Do you think Hayley will still snaffle the top spot?
It will be hard to beat that Slumdog routine and you just know her and Dan are going to choose it as their favourite…

Which two skaters deserve the chance to dance Bolero?

Danniella’s Farewell…

Danniella Wesbrook may be out of the Dancing On Ice Final but she’s looking forward to the Live Tour and can’t wait to skate again with partner Matt, in fact she’s insisting on it!

After her shock exit on Sunday, she told ITV:

"I’m gutted I’ve gone out but I’m happy for my kids, I get to spend some time with them. I feel like I’ve got on well with everybody… I feel like I skated better second time around, we gave it our all and we had a good time."

She’s looking forward to seeing who comes out on top, "Gary is a great skater and Hayley’s fantastic, it’s gonna be a great final."

And how does she feel about her partner? "What’s it been like skating with Matt? Arr.. He’s great, he’ll still be in my life and I’ll always get to skate with Matt."

I have to agree with Jason Gardiner for once, I think the final would have been far more exciting with Danniella in it! Do you really think that Kieron or Gary can compete with Hayley when it comes to skating skills? Not to mention flying! We all know the problems boys have with ‘groin crushing’ harness and the ladies always carry it off and look so much more elegant. I’m not sure if they stand a chance…

Live Blog – The Semi Final!

The Dancing On Ice Live Blog & Chat is running now…

As always tap F5 to refresh as we go along and click to leave your views as each act performs. The skaters have been perfecting everything from flips to Flambos, will they be drastic or fantastic?

Click here to leave your views..

So it’s been a traumatic week… The celebs have trained like crazy to perfect their solo routines but who will be the one to shine and who will buckle under the pressure? The judges are basing their marks on how they fair alone… Head Judge Robin Cousins says it all, "if they come out and perform like finalists, they will be finalists… someone is going home!"

We kick things off with a sensational routine from the ‘lebs and our legendary Olympic champs, I’m in awe as Gary Lucy lifts Jayne – you can see he’s nervous but he glides along like a pro!

It’s a cracking start to George Michael’s Always and a confidence builder in preparation for the skaters solo spots later…

In case you haven’t gathered, the required element tonight is a solo spot and each celeb must perform alone for (at least) the first 20 seconds of their routine.

So who’s first?

Hayley Tamaddon has a lot to prove this week. She’s been top of the leaderboard since the series began but lost her placing last week when Danniella pipped her to the post. Personally, I thought it was well deserved as Hayley and Dan went from original to sickly sweet, but fingers crossed they’ll pull it back this time around…

Her solo spot goes well but I’m sorry to say it’s a rather subdued routine once more. I can’t say I enjoy the ‘slowies’ from these two, they seem to be much more suited to punchy performances with ‘pop’. Do you agree?

Click here to leave your views..

There’s a pitchfork counterbalance, a wrap-around, a solo spin, a spiral, crossovers and much much more. The routine is packed but it’s missing that x-factor for me, dare I say it’s a little wet? Maybe I was expecting a little too much? I thought Hayley would throw something sensational into her solo – I’ll never forget that spin from Chris fountain, wow!

27.5 points and 6 from Robin Cousins.

Robin can’t praise Hayley enough. "During rehearsal there were moments when it was jarring during the transitions but it was just beautiful tonight". Jaycen agrees that it was sensational but he was hoping for "more release".

Nicky agrees that it was beautiful but did not award a 6 as the skating is slow. He’s booed by the crowd but I have to agree…

Click here to leave your views..

I think if this was a ‘nice guy’ contest Gary Lucy would win hands down. He’s trying so hard and as the most uncoordinated contestant it’s an uphill climb. He and Maria perform to You and Me Always and Forever and he has the steps down but it’s a little cheesy – sorry. I was hoping for so much from the semi-finals and I’m yet to be blown away… Will anyone give us a showstopper tonight?

It may have been disappointing for semi-final standards but it’s Gary’s best yet. There’s a crucifix with roll up, barrel rolls, a wrist ripper… Hang on – he just threw a jump in there from nowhere, good for you Gazza!

24.5 points! Earned!

The judges love that Gary has improved so much but Jason is cutting and knocks him down… "It’s all the same, you’re like skating Valium to me. You’re a good looking boy but it’s so boring!" Ouch! Easy tiger, I though it was one of his best, did you? Maybe if he stripped like Danny Young he’d impress Jason more. Is that right though?

Click here to leave your views..

Now this could be interesting… Danniella snaffled the top spot last week with her sexy secretary routine and I’m hoping she’s going to battle to keep it with something fabulous! Let’s see…

Mmm… Nope. Like the others, her solo spot is nothing to write home about but she comes to life when Matthew hits the ice. It’s far more exciting than the others and she almost reminds me of a pro when she lands the lift – the placement and timing is perfect.

There’s a solo spiral, a double stag and a roll up into spin. I’m much happier with this routine, it seems to have grabbed the audience so let’s hope it’s gripped the judges by their button pushing fingers…

23 points (What?)
She’s visibly disappointed with the marks and I have to say, so am I! "You know what Phillip, I’m just so proud that I came out and did it on my own!"

I have to say I’m shocked that the judges marked so low compared to Hayley. I thought that was far more uplifting than some of the other ‘blah’ performances. They all agree that her solo skating skills are not on par with the others and she needs work, I don’t agree. Does anyone get the feeling they’re trying to knock her down a peg or two… unfair in my opinion – unfair!

Maybe it’s a case of best till last and Keiron will blow our socks off? Will he make this his defining moment and earn his place in the final?

Go on lad, I’m rooting for him and I hope he scrapes it – I really do. He and Brianne have made this series something special, he’s been the one that everyone is talking about and you can see how much he loves it.

The pair perform to I Hope You Had The Time Of You Life and his solo is serene yet hypnotic. There are alternating hyperglides into drags and then Brianne glides into view and is gracefully lifted into a pencil spin. There’s a step sequence followed by a sail lift and although it’s another slow routine, I’m sold. I’d lie to see Danni, Hayley and Kieron in the final.

23 points – too low!

Jason Gardner was not impressed and pulls no punches. "In the Death Spiral you weren’t counterbalancing it and giving a continuous line".

But judge and coach Karen Barber’s having none of his jibes, "I thought it was one of your best performances!" – Me too Karen!

So… who do you want to see in the final?
Who would you have skate again?

Click here to leave your views..

See you back here for the skate-off!

THE SKATE OFF:

Through to next week’s final are…

Hayley & Dan
Kieron & Brianne!
I told you the public love him didn’t I? Bless him, he can’t believe it.

This leaves Danniella and Gary in the skate off. All past mistakes will be forgotten and the skaters will be judges on this performance alone… Who do you think will come out on top?

I feel so sorry for these guys, both celebs have young children and to look out and see them in the audience in tears must be heartbreaking. The kids don’t understand and are gutted to see their Mummy & Daddy in the skate off… It doesn’t help when you’re trying to pull off a solo, poor things!

I thought both skaters improved on their first performance although Danniella’s spiral was a little wobbly. I loved how Gary had a little roll-around and cuddle with Maria on the ice when it was all over. It was a fall but it was after the routine had ended – it doesn’t count against him.

The judges have decided…

Karen finds the decision hard but saves Gary.
Nicky confirms that Gary’s fall was after the routine had ended – "By the skin of his teeth I save Gary".
Jason shakes his head, "I’m judging on performance and I want an exciting final. I save Danniella!"
Emma agrees with Jason.
So it’s two a piece and up to Head Judge Robin Cousins: "I save Gary!"

Danni has had a ball. "It’s been such a joy, to get this far is amazing". She thanks Karen Barber for her training and patience and the coach is in tears.

In a shock result Gary Lucy knocks Daniella Westbrook out of the competition and skates into next week’s final. Kieron, Hayley and Gary will all fly next week and two of them will perform Bolero.

Who do you think will land the Dancing On Ice crown?

A First! The Celebs Skate With Torvill & Dean

For this week’s Dancing On Ice semi-final, Torvill and Dean have decided to give the public something new.

Sunday’s opening number will showcase the skating talent of the four celebs and they’ll each get the chance to skate with the Olympic gold medalists. The problem for the contestants is that they’ll be without their professional partners – they’re skating alone! I think this is a genius move from Jayne and Chris as it gives the celebs opportunity to build their confidence as a group before their own semi-final solo spot.

Gary Lucy has been struggling in training as he’s always the last to pick up the moves. "I’m missing Maria telling me what to do and where I should be, but I’m trying my best. I’m taking my first baby steps today".

Danniella has been revelling in the whole experience. "To have the opportunity to skate with Chris and Jayne is really cool and Gary even gets to lift Jayne up! If nothing else I can look back when I’m a little old lady and say I skated with Torville and Dean!
Chris Dean confirmed the male skaters will BOTH be lifting his precious partner at one point in the routine. "The two boys are doing a lift, it’s a relatively small lift but the merchandise is expensive – we don’t want to injure Jayne". You got that right Deano!

So who do you think will manage to pull off their solo spot and make the final? Who deserves the chance to fly next week?

Can Kieron Make The Final?

This week two guys and two girls will battle it out to make it through to the Dancing On Ice Final – it’s all or nothing! The celebrity thespians remaining must perform a solo spot as their required element, but who will stand alone and capture your heart and vote?

Emmerdale’s Hayley Tamaddon has been the golden girl of the series, but after Eastenders’ Daniella Westbrook snatched the top spot during Prop Week she’s emerged as the dark horse of the competition. Could she pip Hayley at the post?

The story with the boys is not as clear cut. They’re the lower end of the scale when it comes to scores and it was a surprise to see Corrie’s Danny Young voted off last week when The Bill’s Gary Lucy was the bookies favourite.

And finally we have young Kieron Richardson… Kieron has been the underdog for the past few weeks but his confidence has grown and his skating improved with every round. He has been embraced by the British public and if you ask me, it’s because we’ve seen boy turn to man before our eyes …and the guy is so endearing. Then again, it always helps to have some expert advice. Kieron asked Dancing on Ice finalist Chris Fountain for some pointers weeks ago when performing his axel and as he’s old hat when it comes to semi-finals, fellow Hollyoaks actor Chris has returned to build his pals confidence for the final push!

Kieron placed fourth and scored 23 points during Prop Week. It may have been his highest score to date but the content was lacking when his skating was compared to his competitors. The judges love his enthusiam and charm but are longing to see his skating skills come to the fore, he needs that defining moment and I’m hoping we’ll witness that on Sunday – fingers crossed!

Hopefully his partner Brianne Delcourt and his positive attitude will help him along. Whenever he’s been in the skate-off he’s thrived under the pressure, so maybe he needs to feel those semi-final nerves to get him going. Kieron is a realist and he knows it’s going to be a hard week, he may be down but he’s not out. He told What’s on TV that he still feels he and Delcourt could win it, although he humbly added, "It’s week nine now and I didn’t think I’d be here after week one.”

Kieron is the favourite to be eliminated this week with odds of 11/8, Gary Lucy is fair to middlin’. After landing the top spot last week, Danniella has landed favour with the bookies and Hayley Tamaddon could be called ‘a cert’ for the final. She’s 16/1 to be voted off.

So…
Who will you be voting for?
Can Kieron Richardson charm the public with his grin and gusto? Or does heart throb Gary Lucy float your boat? Are you sticking with show favourite Hayley after her 30 point Slumdog showstopper or would you like Danniella to hold on to her lead and make the final?

It all depends on those solo performances I guess, if nothing else we will see who can REALLY skate and who’s been strategically nursed along the way..

Live Blog – Prop Week

The Dancing On Ice Live Blog is running now…

It’s Prop Week people!
Not that I’m tempting fate, but are you ready for trips and slips. These guys have only just learned to skate and to throw a chair or a brolly into the mix is nothing short of car crash TV. Who will fly and who will fall? It’s all or nothing…

SHOW STARTS:

So who’s got what?
Danniella has the chair, Hayley the brolly, Gary the cane, Danny the hat and Kieron has a mic stand no less!

We kick things off with Jayne and Chris showing us how it’s done. They perform a country themed routine to A Little Less Conversation and they work the cowboy hats like pros! I love the heel start and the bareback ridealong, so original! Not to take anything away from the Olympic champs, but you get the feeling that they’re not as keen performing with props either. It’s a cracking performance but you can tell they are concentrating far more than usual.

The skaters are introduced and with the office chair as her prop, it looks like Danniella will be playing the saucy secretary tonight. Is it just me or does Kieron Richardson seem to be changing from boy to man before our eyes.

Judges: What the hell is Jason wearing? LOL!
Head Judge Robin Cousins is hoping the skaters will stay in character and interact well with both their partner and prop… That’s what’s going to land you with top marks tonight peeps.

Click here to leave your views..

So who’s first?

Gary Lucy opens his prop box to discover the cane. Before you can say cheerleader, he’s dropping it and beating the ice in rage! Fingers crossed he’s had time to rehearse…

Gary and Maria perform to Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick and it’s a funky up beat routine with tons of cane-tastic tricks. I particularly liked the dual throws and the pull through with the canes – tricky stuff and no falls.

They thread the eye of the needle, perform a teapot, Gary treats us to a one footed spin (last week’s required element) and Maria’s up for a shoulder sit with back lay-over.

Robin Cousins is impressed that Gary saved himself from a trip and then went straight into a jump. Jason commends Gary for incorporating last week’s required element into the routine to show them that he can do it. "You’ve upped your game this week!"

Danniella Westbrook takes to the ice and (wow!) there’s wolf whistles all round as she really looks the part as the sexy secretary. Dannii and Matthew perform to She’s Got The Look and you can see that she’s feeling the pressure after two weeks in the skate-off.

Deep breath and they’re off…
Excellent! The lift-off the chair to float spin was sensational and considering she fell face first into the ice just a few days ago, she’s nailed it.

There’s a fairground waltzer, a shoulder sit with hip pose, drags and a spiral with chair.

5.5’s across the board!
27.5 and she’s pleased as punch.

Emma Bunton is overjoyed. "I’m so excited I can’t tell you. How much did you love that? This is only the second time I’ve got goosebumps, the sexy, confident Danni is back!"

Head Judge Robin is gushing, "Even when you were seated in the chair, your toes were pointed and you ept in character. You took care of every detail of your body be it on the ice or on the chair – it was great."

Karen Barber nods, "I’ve watched that routine grow all week. Your acting skills made it."

I’m interested to see what Kieron is going to do with this microphone! He and Brianne perform to The Great Pretender and although it has punch, there’s not as much content as I’d have liked. There seemed to be a lot of holding it and skating about…

There are box steps around the mic, a death spiral, crossovers, (oooh!) I loved the part-axel into knee slide – Great tricks but I’d have liked more use of the prop. Eek! The mic clocks him in the face as it bounces back at the end… He covered it well.

Nicky thought it was a strong performance but asked that Kieron be a little more careful when landing his partner from the lifts. He thought he used the prop well and held character but didn’t have the content that Gary did.

What’s up with Jason Gardiner tonight? More compliments… "It was full on for you, you really turned it up a notch tonight. I’d have liked to see more with the prop, you had to hold it with both hands a lot of the time but that’s not your fauls. It was a solid performance."

It’s Tamaddon Time!
Hayley’s taken a lot of flack the past few days (scroll down to read more) which is unjustified when she gave such an amazing performance last week. She’s got a lot to live up to this time around and it’s a whole new ball game when you throw in a prop. Let’s see what she comes up with…

Hayley and Dan perform to Raindrops Keep Falling On my Head and it’s a warm, endearing routine with a romantic twist. There are drags, a spinning layout, an upside down sash and an amazing standing counter-balance… she opens the brolly during the pose – charming and stunning.

Danniella pipped her to the top tonight!

Karen Barber knows the pressure Hayley’s been under. "Last week was a tough act to follow and this was a whole different ball game."

Emma was left wanting, "It was seamless, beautiful… and you had so much control over the prop but there was something missing. I didn’t fell it, it just wasn’t spectacular tonight."

Robin was looking for something more too. "I gave you the extra point as the skating was fanstastic but I would have loved more tension. It was a bit ‘nice’ for me tonight."

Yeah whatever, I think she’s done enough don’t you? I did prefer Danni’s performance tonight though.

Finally, we have Danny and his little red bowler hat. He anf Frankie perform to It’s All About You and I have to say, I love the personality of the piece. It’s comedic but heartfelt as well as a little cheeky… almost a fairgroung teenage romance – picture postcard stuff. I loved the smooch behind the hat.

There’s a Torville and Dean see-saw lift, a roll up, a cartwheel with hat pick-up, hat catches mid skate and crossovers. For the improvement in skating and holding such a quirky character throughout, he has to score highly.

25.5 points!
Bless Danny he’s over the moon! He nearly fell over when he got a 5.5.

Emma is so happy for him. "You can see you are enjoying it, tonight you were funny and cute and last week you acted it too. You’ve raised your game and I think you had the hardest job tonight. The hat is probably the most difficult to use."

Nicky enjoyed it. "The skating is much better and the flow is improved. If you can take an extra step before your lifts instead of takingyour time and hesitating that will work better for you."

It’s so close tonight…
Who would you place in the bottom two?

I think that Daniella’s acting skills gave her the edge tonight. The routine was sexy and seamless, she deserves the top spot. I agree with Robin that Hayley’s was a little too sickly sweet – loved her last week though. I think Keiron could end up in the bottom two, not that any of them deserve to but he had a naff prop and the routine was static.

Get voting and I’ll see you back here for the skate off…

THE SKATE OFF!

Through to next week are…

Danniella and Matthew
Hayley and Dan
… and Gary and Maria.

Danny and Kieron must skate again. Kieron could go through on use of the prop or Danny on content, it’s a tough call this one.

Once again, Kieron rises to the occasion and he improves in both movement and character. He also manages to avoid being smacked in the face this time – Ouch!

Danny tries his best but sadly the hat sticks to Frankie’s blade and a catch is missed. Frankie also fluffs the hat grab during the cartwheel. The pair look dejected, I think they know what those kind of mistakes can mean… As the pro skater Frankie looks visibly annoyed with herself.

Much as I think Danny’s performance was packed with personality, I hope Kieron goes through.

Karen votes for Danny, but the other judges reward Kieron for his lack of errors and is in the final four.

Danny is humble in defeat and a little tearful: "It’s been a great experience and I’ve met some great people, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done – guys I wish you all the best. Frankie has been amazing she’s got me through so much…"

Did the right man go?

Fix? No! Leave Hayley Alone.

You know what?
I’ve had about enough of this.

Everybody knows that producers on Dancing On Ice select a mix of athletes, actors, dancers, singers and presenters every year. These competitiors are all ages and their ability to skate varies across the board, it always has. There are always going to be those that flop and those that fly, it’s about how you can absorb the training and how well you gel with your partner – that’s it!

You’d think we would all know that right?
Wrong!

According to The People today, it seems there’s sour grapes in camp and the skaters are starting to turn on each other – well, I say each other… I mean DOI favourite, Hayley Tamaddon.

One contestant, who asked not to be named, told The People: "Hayley and Dan definitely are not popular within the group – they haven’t made much effort to get involved. It would be fair to say that several people dislike her, even hate her. She is the butt of a lot of bitching sessions."

According to the paper, Hayley was on standby for two years after being asked in 2008 and her fellow contestants claim she has skated since her teens, branding the show ‘a fix’.

If you ask me, all of this was bound to happen after Hayley received full marks last week for her Slumdog Millionaire routine – If I remember correctly Chris Fountain had similar problems. I just hope Hayley ignores it and was expecting a backlash. Talk about a case of the green eyed monster!

Oh, and if you were wondering about the official stance:
A Dancing on Ice spokesman said, "Hayley has never been a standby contestant. She told us she has never skated before."

So there!
Producers would be eaten alive by the press if this statement wasn’t true – so I’m sticking with them.

Leave Hayley alone!
I can’t stand a jealous witch hunt.
I’ve loved Hayley’s performances and wait each week for Tamaddon time – She’s worked so hard in training and has more injuries than most! You go girl and don’t let them get to you.
